Data Capture

The term “Data Capture” refers to information which is collected, interpreted and then stored into a computer. Data Capture alleviates the tiresome need of having to hand-enter data from forms and other sources, saving time and money for many industries.

This is also known as “Draft Capture” or EDC (Electronic Draft Capture), and is used, for example, in the retail industry where the information is collected, formatted, transferred and kept in predefined fields such as a customer’s information and amount of purchase. This information is quickly read from a card or terminal, and can be printed as a hard copy or viewed on a display. It is also the fastest method to authorize and process credit card transactions.

The world of data capture has grown enormously in recent years, especially with the advance of new technology. More complex and now with a host of different technologies to suit a variety of needs, its newest technologies have greatly changed how information is collected and used.
